A New Beginning
We follow Jesus because he makes us new by saving us from our sin and gives us a new beginning. We turn from our previous way of living and turn to Jesus, to ask him for forgiveness from our sins and to give us new life in Him. Romans 10:8-10 says this,
“Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!” (MSG).
Accepting Jesus is receiving salvation and that is God’s free gift to us. We join His family and become His children. We are empowered to live a full life reflecting God in how we live to the world around us.
If you are not sure whether you have a right relationship with God or know that you need Jesus in your life today, you can choose to follow Him right now. All it takes is praying a prayer of surrender to Jesus.
