On Sunday, July 26th, Ps Greg Murray sat down with Sarah Clarke a Christian Counsellor and Psychotherapist. They explored the important and often unaddressed issues around loneliness, shame, and isolation. Drawing from Psalm 68:6, they spoke about how to identify shame narratives in loneliness. How we believe that because we’re lonely there must be something wrong with us, people will judge us if we talk about it, that we shouldn’t be lonely if we’re surrounded by people, and that we’re somehow disappointing God. But these are lies. Loneliness is painful. Shame adds the belief that the loneliness reveals something defective about us. But God loves us and loneliness is experienced by so many. We are never alone. As church community, Greg encouraged us to ask God if there was someone in our lives that we could reach out to, invite over for lunch, or just check in with them.
We pray that this message blesses you, encourages you and ultimately draws you closer to our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
